Funding entity Iberdrola
The aim of this project is the study of the impact of development of the solar photovoltaic energy on the Iberdrola’s markets and networks. Wind energy has experienced a formidable degree of development in Spain during the last few years: the installed capacity at the end of 1998 was 800 MW, the installed capacity at the end of 1999 is expected to be 1600 MW and it could reach 8000 MW in five years time. The success of wind energy results from two circumstances: the regulatory framework is favourable and the technology of the wind power generation is advanced. This project will investigate if solar photovoltaic energy may develop rapidly as wind energy and will suggest strategies to Iberdrola in order to take advantage of any such development.
